A good day for our game drive. Great weather, sunny and warm. This is the low season for tourists due to typically rainy weather and tall grasses hiding all the wildlife. Well, Kenya is still in a drought, so the grasses are very short and the weather is dry. We are lucky. Pictures below.

These are hyenas. Unusual picture because they are relaxing and we got very close to them. They are very skittish and either fighting among themselves or eating anything that is dead in the bush. |
| 7 ostriches, again, unusual. Normally they are very solitary. |
| This is VERY unusual. A fresh-kill giraffe is unprecedented because it has no real predators. It was killed last night but it was already gutted with its intestines all around it. We hope to go by it again tomorrow to see what is left after two nights. |
Not a lot of lions roaming around. Most were sleeping. They do let you drive right up to them. Don't get out of your Rover though, you then instantly become food! We are leaving at 6:30am tomorrow to try to catch them as they return from their hunts. |
These five cheetahs are brothers! William knows them well. They were pretty lazy. Not moving around much. They must not be too hungry. They find their prey by sight, not my smell. They are always looking around.
Lunch in the bush. A careful check around the tree, then William stays with the Rover and keeps his eyes out for any hungry lions! Actually, it is pretty safe...... |
